Pet Diagnostics
Preventing illness in your furry companions is our top priority, but our ability to detect and treat illness is just as important. When your pet isn’t feeling their best, veterinary diagnostics are our go-to resource for giving your pet—and their ills—a voice. With our onsite laboratory, digital X-ray machine, and ultrasound equipment, we’re able to develop a complete picture of your pet’s condition which directly informs our treatment plan.
Establishing Baseline Health & Improving Early Detection with Lab Work
We use our in-house lab frequently during annual wellness exams to establish baseline health and ensure there are no changes from the previous year’s test. If we do notice any changes, we can quickly take action to further investigate the issue and provide your cat or dog the care they need to get back to full health.
Tests we run at our lab include:
- Complete blood counts (CBCs)
- Blood chemistry panels
- Fecal exams
- Heartworm testing
- Tick-borne disease testing
- Urinalysis
- Cytology (skin tests)
- And more
Looking Beyond the Surface with Advanced Imaging
Digital X-rays and ultrasound allow us to visualize your pet’s internal structures including their skeleton, abdomen, and internal organs. Digital X-rays are far superior to their film predecessor; they take crystal clear images in less time and expose your cat or dog to less radiation, too. Ultrasound is entirely non-invasive and lets us see your pet’s internal organs and abdominal cavity in real time, which helps us see how these organs are functioning.
X-rays and ultrasound inform each other, and in many cases, we’ll use them both in our diagnosis. Conditions for which we’ll use X-ray, ultrasound, or both include:
- Fractures
- Ingested foreign object
- Fluid build-up
- Joint injuries
- Pregnancy (ultrasound only)
- And more
